Videl is the daughter of Mr. Satan, the martial arts world champion, and one of the key figures of the Majin Buu Saga in Dragon Ball Z: the crime-fighting high schooler who becomes Gohan’s wife and Pan’s mother. Raised in the shadow of a father cheered by the entire planet, Videl isn’t content to just applaud him: she fights herself and lends a hand to her city’s police. It’s in high school that she meets Gohan, and she eventually uncovers the secret of the Great Saiyaman, the masked hero he secretly plays. In exchange for her silence, she gets him to teach her how to fly, right before the martial arts tournament she enters too. That bond turns into romance: Videl marries Gohan, and their daughter Pan joins the Son family. No transformations or golden aura for her: she’s a human fighter who makes up with sheer grit for what sets her apart from the Saiyans.
